HOW TO BRUSH UP ON FIRE SAFTEY BASICS
San Tan Insurance Offers Free Fire Safety Materials for Children
and Adults
October 4, 2006 — Gilbert, Arizona— National Fire Prevention
week is observed during the month of October, and San Tan Insurance
is reminding consumers to check their knowledge of fire safety with
this brief quiz.
- Do you prepare and practice a home escape plan?
- Do you have working smoke detectors installed in your home?
- Do you change the batteries in your smoke detectors every six
months?
If you answered “no” to any of these questions, you’re
not alone. According to the National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA), fire departments responded to 395,500 home fires in the
United States in 2004, resulting in $5.8 billion in direct property
damage, 13,700 injuries, and 3,190 deaths. Many of these fires—and
fatalities—could have been prevented, had the basics of fire
prevention been observed.
“These three simple questions are the most important when
it comes to fire safety,” said John Boughton, agency principal
at San Tan Insurance. “Each family member needs to know an
exit route in the event of a fire, as well as where to meet as a
group outside. As for smoke detectors, it’s recommended that
households have one on every level, in every bedroom, and in the
halls outside of sleeping areas. And an easy way to remember when
to change smoke detectors is during April and October—when
the rest of the country resets their clocks for daylight savings
time.”
In addition, the theme of National Fire Prevention week this year
is “Prevent Cooking Fires: Watch What You Heat,” recognizing
the fact that more fires start in the kitchen than any other part
of the home. The NFPA reports that between 1999-2000, there were
114,000 reported home fires associated with cooking equipment on
average each year, and that it’s important to spread the word
to brush up on the basics when it comes to preventing cooking fires.
To help people learn more about fire safety education, San Tan
Insurance is working with MetLife Auto & Home® to provide
free materials, including an innovative new DVD, called “Fire
Is,” a coloring book for children entitled “Learn About
Fire Safety with the PEANUTSä Gang,” and a fire safety
brochure entitled “About… Fire Safety.” They are
available by calling (480) 391-3883 or visiting San Tan Insurance,
located at 2335 S. Lindsay Road Suite 113, on the northeast corner
of Lindsay Road and Williams Field Road, behind Walgreens..
The DVD, called “Fire Is…,” is a groundbreaking
five-part education program created by veteran television broadcaster
Dr. Frank Field that was produced through a grant from MetLife Foundation.
“Fire Is…” employs a straight talking, realistic
approach to fire safety and features news stories and interviews
supplied by more than twenty television stations. The DVD was recently
endorsed by the Department of Homeland Security’s United States
Fire Administration Office (USFA). Note: supplies of the DVD are
limited.
“These materials give parents and children valuable tools
to help learn the basics of fire safety,” said Boughton. “Many
fires are the result of kitchen mishaps or simple carelessness.
The coloring books help parents teach valuable lessons that can
help save lives and property—and do so using the PEANUTS characters,
which have proven popularity with everyone, especially kids.”
THINK YOU HAVE THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE POLICY?
WHY YOU MIGHT NOT… AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT
For immediate release
Gilbert, AZ (June XX, 2006) – Consumers with insurance policies
for their home, auto and business may believe they have all the
available coverage options. But like any product or service, the
quality of the services and available coverage you receive varies
from one company to the next.
Unfortunately, most insurance consumers are woefully unaware of
their vulnerability until there is a claim. But new options are
arising in Arizona’s east valley.
After almost 20 years in the field, John Boughton brings another
option to Arizona’s east valley. John’s experience is
rather extensive in that he started in the insurance industry in
claims and then built an insurance agency in Tucson, Arizona. He
has since relocated to Gilbert, Arizona. and opened San Tan Insurance.
John is unique among insurance agents for his extensive claims
experience and knowledge of insurance policies to help the consumer.
One thing John advises his clients to do is to set up a team of
professionals - an attorney, CPA and an educated insurance professional
- to help with personal and business financial matters. Having a
well-rounded professional team may be the difference between a financial
loss and protecting your family from financial loss.
As an independent agency, San Tan Insurance has the ability to
research coverage options and rates through many A-Rated insurance
companies. Most consumers are amazed that they can offer the same
or better coverage options than other agencies for a low rate.
For example, San Tan Insurance offers two important coverage endorsements
for home insurance. Many consumers are unaware of Sink-Hole Collapse
Coverage endorsement and Guaranteed Replacement Cost endorsement
for a home. However, these home insurance policies endorsements
are not available on the same policy.
Commercial Building Owners may be unaware that there is an endorsement
available for their buildings that allows for full replacement of
the building. This endorsement is not available through all insurance
companies.
These additional endorsements are incredible options for consumers,
especially with the Valley’s high construction costs.
San Tan Insurance also includes Samantha Kemp, who has ten years
of experience in the insurance industry. Consumers will definitely
benefit from her expertise and commitment to her total customer
service.
